Anton Cartwright is an economist focused on Africa’s urban transition. He leads the New Climate Economy’s work in Africa and established the Tanzanian Urbanisation Laboratory and the Ghana Urbanisation Think Tank. Previously he oversaw the City of Cape Town's green economy and convened Cape Town's climate change think tank. He was a Lead Author of the IPCC’s Special Report on 1.5°C of Warming, remains a senior associate of the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership and is the founding Director of South Africa's first carbon registry, Credible Carbon which has raised over R12 million for poverty alleviating carbon mitigation projects.
