Regional Director, Journeyman International
Rwanda
Carly Althoff, an architect from the United States, moved to Rwanda in 2017 with NGO Journeyman
International to partner with East African Power in designing community-serving facilities for productive use of
renewable energy in rural Africa. Her background in architectural design, planning, and sustainable
development coincided with the vision for social impact held by EAP, and together they have designed and
constructed centers for community empowerment around several energy project sites. Carly holds a bachelor’s
degree in Architecture with minor in Environmental Sustainability and aims to continue designing and
coordinating environmentally-friendly spaces that uplift those in need.
